Keep on keeping on!

I'we also continued to work with the drawing board I bought earlier this week. It has taken some time getting used too, but I believe I am getting better. The picture I am going to show you guys today I have made in Illustrator. It took several hours, but it ended up looking good. I'm probably gonna continue to work on it, but for now I'll show you guys what I managed to do.

I hope you like it as much as I do, and If anyone got some information about where to get some tips or inspiration when working with digital art, the please feel free to comment and tell me about it! 

The Five Categories

Today, since our Teachers are on some sort of trip to, some part of the world. We got a new task to work on while they were away. The task was pretty straight forward. We were going to choose one of the following themes:

1. Light 

2. Vater

3. Friends

4. Choose a theme yourself

5. Composition 

I chose my own theme. Plants. The reason I chose plants, was simply because my mom had a bouquet of roses standing on our dinner table. The only problem with working at home is that I don't have a proper camera. Yes, I do have a simple digital camera, but I didn't feel that it would be the right thing for this task. Instead I ended up borrowing my sisters very old SLR camera (it's a Nikon, just so you know) . The whole thing is a but out of date, but I managed to get some good shots anyways. 

The first picture is of a single rose. The cameras ISO settings were 200 (which is the lowest ISO on the Nikon camera)and I didn't use a flash. I tried to place the rose in the golden ratio; creating a point of interest to the left. I also kept the one rose in focus because it creates the same effect. 

The second picture is of the parsley plant located in my kitchen window. This picture also has the ISO settings 200, but because of the light created by the window the shadows seem much darker on this picture. I really like this picture because it looks like the parsley is reaching for the window. 

And in a short glimpse of afternoon sun, I managed to shoot this. A picture which I think has a focus on shadow and composition. It is a very balanced photo. The light and the plant creates symmetry and contrast (rusty light, green leafs). And on this picture I turned the ISO up to 400.

Working on my own!

Well, as you might be able to tell from the title of this post; I'we been working a lot on my own lately.
Or, not that much actually... just today! But it kind of started yesterday, when I decided to get myself a drawing board. It was a bit expensive, but I just couldn't resist being able to draw; using my computer, without having to struggle with that horrible mousepad.
So today, I sat down and started working with my own little project. I took one of the pictures that I shot (for fun) last photo lesson, and started the process of turning it in to something that would resemble a comic. Here is the photo I started out with.

It took some time to get used to the drawing board, but after a while I started to get a hang of it. I don't know how long I was sitting in front of the computer (since I wasn't really paying any attention to the time) but it can't have taken more than a couple of hours. My finished result turned out all right, I still have a long way to go, but at least this is a start!
Let's see how the finished result turned out.

And as I already said; I'm gonna need a lot more practice, but at least this is a start!

Water World

Second task of today was taking pictures of water.
It's a pretty simple task considering the fact that water doesn't always move the way you want it too.
It turned out quite good, at least that's what I think...

Err Mah Geerd Photogeeerfs

Well, let's just say that todays photo task was hilarious!
The task was all about shutter speed, and using it to get different photos. The thing is, the shutter speed (or time value) has a lot to say when it comes to taking the right picture. You adjust this by changing your camera settings on the shutter speed from the usual 250 - 1000mili seconds, to things like a whole second... or maybe more.
Anyways, me Trond Arne and Lars joined up once again and set to work. We were supposed to take two pictures. A freeze picture and a moving picture. After trying different things, but ended up with a couple of photos that we really liked.

Trouble in photo land

Well guys, it's been a while since I'we logged on to the blog and seen what's been happening.
The thing is, I'we been having some problems with my camera, and myself. I'we gotten a really bad cold, and was knocked out flat the last time we were going to be working with our blog.
But the thing is, that's not the bad news.
Last art class when we took the buss to an art museum in Stavanger. The new Munk exhibition had just opened and we were going to have a look at that. Our guide was great and so was the art. We also had a look at another exhibition in the museum; where they had painted a bunch of cars. Everything was just great, until I got home. I have no idea how, when or why, but somehow I (or the camera itself) had managed to delete all my pictures. At least I'll leave you guys with a link too the museums home page, the page is in norwegian. So to the ones of you who only read english; you got my greatest apologies for messing up my camera.
